Real in limbo over Ronaldo

Real Madrid will only move on to other transfer targets if Cristiano Ronaldo decides against pushing for a move to the Bernabeu.

The Manchester United winger has been pursued all summer by the Spanish champions and has so far refused to pledge his future to the Red Devils.

And Real coach Bernd Schuster admits the impasse has left his transfer plans in tatters as he awaits a definitive answer.

"As all the world knows, we are interested in signing a player like Ronaldo," said Schuster who won the La Liga title during his first season in charge.

"But it seems as if he won't finish deciding, and all the rest depends on that. If this doesn't work out we have other alternatives, but everything depends on how it finishes with Cristiano Ronaldo."
