Anderson has confirmed that he would contemplate leaving Manchester United for a return to play for his former club FC Porto.

The 24-year-old Brazilian international midfielder has struggled for regular first-team action at Old Trafford this season and his long-term future has subsequently been thrown into an element of doubt.

And, while Anderson has stopped short of admitting that he would like to quit the Red Devils this summer, he did reveal that a move back to Porto, who he departed to join United in 2007, would be the only club he would move back to Portugal for.

He told A Bola: "I can say that Porto are the only club where I could think of going if I returned to Portugal.

"My past is there, and that is where my roots are."

In the meantime Anderson, who has also been blighted by a hamstring problem this season, will no doubt look to try and force his way into United boss Sir Alex Ferguson's first-team plans between now and the summer as they chase the Premier League and FA Cup double.
