Manchester United are back on the trail of Valencia midfielder Sofiane Feghouli after dropping their interest in Ander Hererra.
Feghouli, 23, has been on United's radar since he burst onto the scene in France with Grenoble but dropped down the list of priorities when he made a free transfer move to Valencia in 2010 after his contract expired.
The Algerian international is enjoying a fine spell of form for club and country, scoring a crucial goal for the Fennec Foxes in their World Cup qualifying play-off defeat to Burkina Faso at the weekend.
United boss David Moyes has recently received scouting reports on Feghouli after he helped Valencia to a 1-1 draw against Herrera's Athletic Bilbao side in La Liga earlier this month.
Feghouli operates on the left for Valencia while Herrera is purely a central midfielder, but the Algerian outshone the Spaniard on the night and remains of interest to the Red Devils.
The France-born midfielder signed a new contract at Valencia earlier this year to tie him to the Mestalla until 2016, but the club left his release clause at 30million euros, five million less than that of Herrera at Athletic.
