Manchester United are showing interest in Barcelona's Rafael Alcantara - the younger brother of last summer's target Thiago Alcantara.
David Moyes' scouting staff are tracking the progress of the 21-year-old Brazilian, nicknamed Rafinha, on loan at Celta Vigo and are ready to pounce if they are given any encouragement by the Catalan club.
Barcelona did not want to sell Rafinha's older brother Thiago last summer, but the midfielder was fed up of waiting for rare first-team chances and told them he wanted a move.
United courted the 22-year-old Spaniard throughout the European Under-21 Championships but he jumped at the chance to join Bayern Munich when Pep Guardiola came in for him.
Rafinha, who also holds an EU passport, has operated on the right wing for Celta this season, scoring three goals in 23 Primera Division appearances.
Barcelona have room for him in their squad next season, but he also faces stiff competition for chances on his return to the Camp Nou with Alexis Sanchez, Pedro, Cristian Tello and Barca B starlet Adama Traore all having played there this season.
