Wayne Rooney picked up an Achilles injury against Swansea but David Moyes was happy with the commitment shown by the striker.
Rooney who has been struggling with injury problems throughout pre-season came on for 30 minutes as Manchester United kicked off the new season with a 4-1 win at Swansea.
Reds boss Moyes revealed after the game that the striker took a nasty knock to his Achilles, but it is hoped he will have recovered in time for the huge clash with Chelsea in nine days time.
"He got a kick," said Moyes. "It was quite a bad one down the back of his Achilles. He is still lacking match practice but I gave him another 30 minutes today and that will bring him on."
Meanwhile Moyes was delighted with the attitude of the player and says he will always show full committment to the club when he runs out on to the pitch.
"When you cross that white line it is very difficult not to be committed," Moyes added. "Lots of people are judging you. When you cross that white line it is up to you. I thought he was incredibly committed for the team and helped set up two goals."
