Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a target for Brondby although their coach admits it may not be possible to lure him back to Scandanavia.
Brondby boss Rene Meulensteen, a former reserve team coach at Old Trafford, would love to add the 34-year-old's experience to his squad but knows United look set to rely on the veteran striker themselves this season.
The Norwegian has looked sharp in pre-season and, when coupled with the likely departure of Ruud van Nistelrooy, the forthcoming campaign could see the player handed an opportunity to impress.
Brondby are stepping up their pursuit of a replacement for Johan Elmander but Meulensteen admits he may have to wait to land his man.
He said:"I would be more than happy in case I could bring Solskjaer.
"It would be fantastic for the club. It won't happen now, but maybe later. He will try to get back on United's first team."
