Tottenham have told Manchester United they will have to offer £70million to have any chance of landing Gareth Bale, reports claim.

Spurs are bracing themselves for a flurry of interest in the talented Welshman, who has been a revelation this season, and both United and Real Madrid are keen to do a deal.

However Spurs do not want to sell the former Southampton man and have slapped the staggering price tag on the player's head in an attempt to scare off both clubs.

United will be unwilling to go that high as they would prefer to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real, who would then use the cash to match Tottenham's valuation.

Paris Saint Germain are also keen but if Bale was to leave White Hart Lane it is thought he would prefer United or Real and would snub a switch to France.
