Captain Gary Neville says Manchester United will only have themselves to blame if they fail to win the Premier League this season.
United briefly moved back to the top of the table following a thoroughly convincing 5-0 win over Portsmouth at Old Trafford on Saturday before Chelsea's success over Arsenal on Sunday put the Blues back on top.
Carlo Ancelotti's side have a two-point advantage over United but Neville says the Reds are in control of their own destiny as they have yet to play Chelsea at Old Trafford.
Neville said: "It is in our hands now and it has not been like that for a while. Chelsea have to come here - and that is where we want to be. We want to win our home games."
Meanwhile, Neville praised Wayne Rooney's recent fine form and believes the England ace can fire United to the title between now and May.
He added: "He is a having a great season and is a fantastic player for us. I hope Wayne continues like this until the end of the season because we are going to need him.
"The most important thing is he is scoring vital goals."
