Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski, according to reports in Germany.
An exclusive report in German newspaper Bild is claiming that United chief Sir Alex Ferguson will look to finally snare the 24-year-old Poland international at the end of the current campaign.
Reigning champions Borussia Dortmund will be offered 22 million euros by United, while Lewandowski can expect to double his current salary and earn five million euros a season at Old Trafford.
Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck are already vying for the attacking places at United, but it is claimed that Ferguson wants Lewandowski to give his side an extra edge as he has already scored 10 goals in 16 appearances this season.
The player, who joined Dortmund for 4.5million euros in 2010, recently said he was happy to stay in the German Bundesliga, but the prospect of a move to United could be too good to turn down next summer.
