Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of versatile midfielder Daley Blind from Ajax on a four-year deal.

United reached an agreement with Ajax for Blind over the weekend and have now confirmed the deal after the player passed a medical and agreed personal terms.

The 24-year-old joins for £14million on a contract until 2018, with an option of a further year.

Blind becomes the sixth summer signing at Old Trafford and joins to work under his former Ajax and Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal.

"It is a real honour to sign for Manchester United," he told the club's website. "I have been at Ajax since I was seven years old and I will always have very fond memories of the club and of my time there.

"Louis van Gaal is a tremendously talented coach, I have worked with him at Ajax and also for the Netherlands national team and I cannot wait to work with him at the biggest club in the world."

Blind, who can operate as a defensive midfielder, a left back or a left-sided central defender, was named the Dutch Player of the Year last season.
