United quartet miss training

Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck missed open training ahead of United's clash with Real Sociedad.

Adnan Januzaj did take part in the session after being added to David Moyes's Champions League squad after qualifying for the 'B' List because of residency.

United did not want to add him to the 'A' List earlier this season when his future was undecided because they would not have been able to add him as a youth player later on.

Having signed a new five-year deal, the 18-year-old could be involved on Wednesday and may even start - with Welbeck's absence opening up a slot on the left-hand side.

Vidic and Cleverley have calf injuries, Ferdinand has been recovering from a groin problem while it is not yet known why Welbeck was absent after he appeared as a substitute on Saturday.

Antonio Valencia is expected to come in on the right and there could also be changes up front with Shinji Kagawa and Javier Hernandez pushing for starting berths.
