Everton are set to step up their interest in Norwegian striker Moa Abdellaoue after Valeranga stopped him from going to Man Utd.

The 23-year-old, dubbed the 'new Ole Gunnar Solskjaer', was invited to train for a week with the European champions, but Valeranga blocked the 'trial' and claim there are other clubs looking at him.

Everton are aware of the striker, who netted nine league goals last season and made his second appearance for Norway against Ukraine in November.

But David Moyes is unlikely to be able to see the striker 'live' before the January transfer window opens and will have to check video tapes because the Norwegian season has now ended.

Valerenga director Pal Breen is hoping to persuade the striker, and his agent, to stay at the Norwegian Cup winners.

"Together with Moa and Moa's agent, we have decided to decline Manchester United's wish for Moa to join on a week-long try out," he confirmed before admitting that "there is also interest from other clubs".
