Manchester City 2-3 Liverpool

Fernando Torres led the comeback as Liverpool came from two goals down to beat Manchester City in a five goal thriller at Eastlands.

Stephen Ireland gave Mark Hughes' side the lead after 19 minutes with a neat volley from inside the box before a sublime Javier Garrido free-kick on 40 minutes gave City a 2-0 lead at the break.

Torres netted his fourth goal of the season ten minutes after the restart when he slotted home Alvaro Arbeloa's low cross and from then on the visitors dominated the game, aided by the fact that City were down to ten men after Pablo Zabaleta was sent off for a two-footed challenge on Xabi Alonso.

The Spanish striker doubled his tally on the 73rd minute when he made the most of an inch-perfect Steven Gerrard corner to nod the ball past Joe Hart from close range.

He and Robinho put in their contenders for miss of the season as both strikers squandered opportunities to win the match for their side, but Dirk Kuyt made no mistake in injury time as he poked the ball into the bottom corner from 6-yards out to snatch the three points.
