Middlesbrough's Julio Arca has been undergoing a series of painkilling injections in his toe to get through games.

Arca is now set to miss the clash in midweek with Barnsley at the Riverside although he may be back for the home clash with Peterborough on Saturday.

"Arca has had a problem with his toe for a long time," Gordon Strachan told the Gazette."He's been very brave, and he's battled through for us after having injections beforehand.

"But it was unfair to ask him to play at Ipswich and we've got to give him a chance to rest it a bit."
