Catt almost out of the bag

Wigan are set to complete the formalities of signing Lee Cattermole from Middlesbrough for £3.5m early this week.

JJB chief Steve Bruce is poised to land his fifth signing of the summer following earlier moves for Daniel de Ridder, Olivier Kapo, Amr Zaki and Maynor Figueroa.

Cattermole, 20, is a product of the Acedmy system at Boro and opinion is divided amongst fans as to whether he should be sold or not although the fee represents a hefty profit for the club.

If the deal does go through, Gareth Southgate is expected to use the cash to help finance a new bid for Reading midfielder James Harper.
