Cattermole - Downing will leave

Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing will leave the Riverside in the very near future, according to former team mate Lee Cattermole.

Cattermole left the Riverside to join Wigan Athletic this summer and expects his former team mate and close friend Downing to move on from Boro to join a bigger club.

Downing is already a regular in the England set up and has attracted interest from Liverpool and Tottenham in recent months and Cattermole believes his pal will end up with a top team.

Speaking to the Sunday Sun Cattermole said: "He is a great player and getting better and better every year,

"He had a lot of interest from Liverpool and Tottenham and I think he will definitely move on.

"I don't think he gets the recognition he deserves. I speak to Stewart all of the time, I think he will end up at a big club."
