Fresh injury blow for Boro

MiddlesbroBoro boss Gareth Southgate has suffered a second blow on the injury front with the news that Mido has picked up a knock.

The Egyptian striker, currently the club's top scorer with three goals in four matches, has picked up a hamstring strain whilst away on World Cup duty and looks likely to miss their World Cup qualifier with DR Congo.

This is the second blow for Southhgate in just a day as it was revealed earlier that Mohamed Shawkey has a groin injury which could keep him out until October.

Mido, who missed most of last season with injury, is desperate to get on the field for his country, said: "I want to take part in the match, even if I will play for a few minutes.

"I will do whatever it takes to be fit for the game. I may start on the bench."

Southgate will be anxious that Mido does not compound the injury by playing whilst unfit.
