Winger denies exit talk

Stewart Downing has dismissed Lee Cattermole's prediction that he will soon leave Boro and says he is happy where he is.

Former team-mate Cattermole predicted at the weekend that Downing will soon move to a big club with both Liverpool and Tottenham said to be interested in his services.

The England winger has dismissed the talk and, not for the first time, claimed he is very happy at the Riverside where he is a very important part of Gareth Southgate's side.

After setting up Boro's last minute winner for Jeremie Aliadiere at Wigan on Saturday, Downing said: "I don't know anything about that (leaving) - I'm happy to be here and give 100 per cent for the team."
