Angel enters Lions' Den

Last Updated: Tue, 02 Sep 2014 14:36

Millwall have signed former Blackpool midfielder Angel Martinez on a one-year deal.

The 28-year-old was a free agent after leaving Bloomfield Road in the summer and was therefore able to agree terms outside the transfer window.

The move reunites Martinez with Lions boss Ian Holloway, who gave the player his Championship debut while in charge of the Seasiders.

"I have stayed in touch with Ian Holloway since he left Blackpool, and for me he is a special manager," Martinez told Millwall's website.

"We had a great season there when we reached the Championship play-off final at Wembley, and I hope we can have success here too."

The Spaniard could make his Lions debut at Ipswich a week on Saturday.
