Karl Robinson saw MK Dons score five goals against Oldham but the manager of the Milton Keynes club was equally pleased with his side's defending.
Dean Bowditch's penalty had given the Dons a slender half-time lead, before Daniel Powell's double and further strikes from Mathias Doumbe and Stephen Gleeson emphatically sealed a 5-0 win - their first victory in six games.
"We showed tremendous quality and class in both boxes. I thought we defended very well, the two boys in midfield were running around like Rolls Royces and the boys at the top end of the pitch did the damage," Robinson said. "We've come here against a strong Oldham team, we coped really well and we looked a class act."
The home side's first goal came from the penalty spot and Robinson was bemused at the decision to award it.
"Dean (Bowditch) is our leading goalscorer now, he's taken over from Charlie (MacDonald). I can't see why the referee gave a penalty, Powelly should have had his hat-trick," said the Dons boss. "But then everyone's head was getting lost a little bit he still had the confidence and the coolness to pick his spot and be clinical from the penalty spot, so that was a pleasing one for us.
"I'm made up for Stephen (Gleeson) for scoring his first goal at stadium:mk but more importantly it was all about the club and the club moving forward."
