Falkirk have swooped to secure the services of Motherwell defender Brian McLean on a two-year deal.

New Bairns boss Eddie May has made the stopper his first signing since taking over the hot seat from John Hughes last month. And he is delighted to secure the services of the 24-year-old, who has made almost 60 appearances for the Fir Park side, on a free contract.

McLean spent most of last season on the sidelines with a cruciate knee ligament injury and fractured knee cap, but May is backing him to be a success for Falkirk.

He told The Herald: "I'm delighted to have signed Brian on a two-year deal. He will give a real assurance to the back four.

"He is a confident player who I am sure will develop and improve further at Falkirk."
