Celtic have reportedly made a pre-contract move to sign Motherwell teenage midfielder Paul Slane.

The 18-year-old is believed to be deciding over whether to move to the SPL giants when his Fir Park deal expires at the end of the season, although 'Well have not yet given up hope of persuading him to stay beyond the summer.

The highly-rated youngster, who has not featured for Motherwell since Boxing Day, would be likely used in Celtic's reserve side initially if he were to join at the end of the season and must decide if he fancies continuing his development at Fir Park or not.

If Slane does take up Celtic's offer, Motherwell would receive a compensation fee for developing the player as a teenager.
