Steven Jennings has joined Motherwell from Tranmere on a free transfer to become manager Jim Gannon's first signing at Fir Park.

The midfielder was at Prenton Park for a decade after being released by Merseyside neighbours Everton as a youth and made his senior debut in October 2003 against Oldham - 10 days before his 19th birthday.

The 24-year-old was offered a new deal with the League One club but has accepted the chance to link up with former Stockport boss Gannon in Scotland, although he will not be eligible for Motherwell's Europa League qualifying tie with Llanelli on Thursday night.
