Craig Brown has confirmed he will remain in charge of Motherwell until the end of next season.

The 69-year-old came in on a temporary basis in December after previous manager Jim Gannon left the club and has been rewarded with a permanent deal after an impressive spell in charge.

Brown picked up the Clydesdale Bank manager of the month after Motherwell picked up 10 points from a possible 12 in his first four matches in charge and hopes the clarification of his future can only be good for the clubs long term prospects.

Brown told the club website: "When you're dealing with players, trying to keep them or sign them, we can confidently now say we'll be here next year. That might chase some away but we hope not!

"Most of the players say 'are you going to be here?' or is Archie going to be here and when we say we are, I think it is helpful."
