Motherwell say they feel 'extremely disappointment' that teenage winger Paul Slane has decided to join Celtic.

'Well chairman John Boyle insists the club did all they could to keep the youngster, offering Slane a new deal but the winger decided that he wanted to move on.

The Fir Park club then decided to accept a second, improved offer from Celtic and the transfer was concluded on Monday, much to the frustration of Boyle.

The chairman said: "We have tried and tried to get Paul to sign a long-term contract but much to our extreme disappointment, he has continually refused.

"We have stuck by and supported him over six years through both personal issues and injury and felt we were due some degree of loyalty for our efforts. Sadly he has chosen to refuse our offers and move on to Celtic."
