Wealthy Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala have reportedly entered the January race to sign Newcastle target Moussa Sissoko from Toulouse.

The midfielder has been on Toon boss Alan Pardew's radar for some time as he hopes to pull off another transfer coup by landing a top player for less than £5million in the new year when the transfer window reopens.

There is also considerable interest in the 23-year-old from Italy - with Juventus particularly keen - and now Anzhi are also said to be considering an offer in January.

Sissoko has become one of the most in-demand players in Ligue 1 after five impressive years with Toulouse and he now looks set to leave the French club, with a move to St James' Park a distinct possibility.

His agent Frederic Guerra told Russian paper Express: "There have been various clubs interested in him but there has still been no official contact with a concrete offer."
