Coloccini threatens deal action

NewcastleDeportivo La Coruna defender Fabricio Coloccini could buy-out his contract in order to move to Newcastle, according to his agent.

The Spaniards have reportedly hiked their asking price for the Argentina international defender by £1m to £9.5m which threatens to scupper the 26-year-old's switch to Tyneside.

Coloccini's agent Marcelo Lombilla is furious Riazor president Augusto Lendoiro is risking the deal collapsing at the 11th hour.

Lombilla told AS: "Lendoiro has to face up to the music and it is that he should not have asked for more from anyone.

"For Coloccini it is a shame that he may miss out on the contract of his life."

Asked if Coloccini could use FIFA's article 17 which allows players to buy themselves out of their deals after a length of time regardless of the length of contract, Lombilla added: "We don't want to, but if they are pushing us closer to the edge."
