Mathieu Debuchy says that Lille blocked his move to Newcastle in the summer and he is now fully committed to the French side.

Boss Alan Pardew made the French full-back one of his top targets of the summer and was ready to meet the asking price but Lille refused to sell and the move collapsed.

There have been suggestions that Pardew could make a renewed bid when the transfer window re-opens in January and Debuchy is hoping that is the case.

The France international would love to get another chance of a move to St James' Park but says he is fully committed to Lille for now and does not see a move happening in January.

"The President [Michel Seydou] did not want me to go to Newcastle but yes, I was disappointed," Debuchy told L'Equipe. "I hope there will be other opportunities but that episode is past now and I'm 200 per cent committed to Lille."
