French deny Cabella swoop

Newcastle have not agreed a deal to sign playmaker Remy Cabella, according to Montpellier vice-president Laurent Nicollin.

Toon boss Alan Pardew has been chasing Cabella for some time and would ideally like to wrap up a deal before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Cabella wants to stay with Montpellier until the end of the season and help them battle to avoid relegation, leading to suggestions a deal is in place for the summer.

However Nicollin has dismissed such speculation and says all talks over a move are on hold until the summer.

"There is no agreement", Nicollin told RMC Sport. "If the board at Newcastle want to discuss about June, then no worries."

Newcastle will face competition for his signature as Manchester United manager David Moyes is also said to be keeping tabs on the player's situation.
