Newcastle are poised to complete the signing of Bordeaux forward Yoan Gouffran after the player revealed a deal has been done.
The 26-year-old is due to fall out of contract at the end of the season and will be available on a free but Newcastle are desperate to replace Demba Ba and have made their move now.
Reports claimed that Newcastle had failed with a £700,000 bid but it seems as though a deal has now been agreed after Gouffran said his goodbyes to the fans on Twitter.
"Big thanks to everyone who has supported me through the good times and bad times," he revealed. "I thank the leadership of the club and the staff for helping me grow.
"I need a new challenge and therefore I hope that you respect my choice. I will follow all the results of the Girondins (Bordeaux). Tomorrow I will be a new player of Newcastle and I am proud. Thanks to everyone....kisses."
