Newcastle will have to battle it out with Juventus for the signature of Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko.
Toon boss Alan Pardew is keen to land the player who is out of contract in the summer but it will not be easy as a number of clubs throughout Europe are also tracking him.
Juventus are one of them and reports in Italy claim the Bianconeri will do all they can to lure him to Turin when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Juventus' Director General, Beppe Marotta, is thought to have already made an approach to Toulouse and the player in an attempt to steal a march on their rivals.
However Pardew will still be confident of striking a deal as Sissoko is thought to prefer a move to the Premier League and has already said Newcastle would be "attractive to any player".
