Goalkeeper Tim Krul says he is delighted to have committed his future to Newcastle after signing a new four-year contract.

The Dutch shot stopper has been at St James' Park since 2005 and, despite having spent time out on loan at Falkirk and Carlisle, is still highly rated by the Newcastle coaching staff.

The 22-year-old has now committed his long-term future to the Toon by signing a new deal which will keep him in the north east until 2014.

"I am delighted to commit my future to Newcastle United, hopefully I can fulfill my dream by becoming the future number one goalkeeper as well as getting into the Dutch national team squad," he told the club's official website.

"I have been at the club five years and it feels like home.

"I would like to thank Harps (Steve Harper) and Paul Barron for the guidance that they have shown me to date."
