Tim Krul believes Newcastle can keeping looking up the table if they repeat their display at Crystal Palace over the Christmas period.

The Magpies eased to a 3-0 win against strugglers Palace to stay sixth in the Barclays Premier League as a strike from Yohan Cabaye, a Danny Gabbidon own goal and a late Hatem Ben Arfa penalty secured another three points on the road for Alan Pardew's side.

Krul, who was awarded the Premier League player of the month ward for November, has now kept six clean sheets so far this season and feels if the players can keep up their recent form they can enjoy their festive schedule.

"We are over the moon [with the performance]," he said.

"It is a quick recovery for Thursday but what a confidence boost and we can keep looking up.

"You have so many games, this was the first of five in two weeks. It is exciting times, especially when you win like that and now I'm looking forward to two home games."

The comprehensive victory follows impressive wins at Tottenham and Manchester United, meaning Newcastle have now won five games away from home this season.

At this stage last year Pardew's side were still searching for their first away success and Krul believes it is the strength in depth which has made the difference.

"To win 3-0 at Crystal Palace in these conditions we can be proud of ourselves," he added.

"It is the spirit and confidence in each other. We have fantastic players, even coming off the bench and giving us extra spark. It makes the difference.

"It is a great confidence boost again, this season we feel we can beat anybody and in these game we showed our footballing quality and bossed it really."
