Newcastle could miss out on the signing of French prospect Yanis Bahloul as Lazio are hot favourites to do a deal.
Toon boss Alan Pardew is again looking to France as he bids to strengthen his squad for a possible Champions League campaign and the highly-rated Sedan ace is on his list of targets.
Pardew wants players who can slot straight into his side but he is also keen on signing one or two hot prospects and the right-sided midfielder fits the bill perfectly.
However the Magpies face strong competition for his signature and reports in France claim that Italian outfit Lazio have made the first move and are leading the race to sign him.
Bahloul, who is set to turn 18 in June, will leave Sedan on July 1st and Newcastle and Lazio will battle it out to offer him his first professional contract in the game.
