Magpies duo stay put

Michael Owen and Joey Barton have not travelled to Majorca but Sebastian Bassong is in the squad despite not yet officially signing.

The Magpies have agreed a fee with Metz for Bassong and the defender has passed a medical and agreed terms, but his deal is yet to be finalised, according to the club.

Captain Owen is still recovering from mumps while Barton is concentrating on his fitness after being banged up for two months.

Newcastle face Hertha Berlin and Real Mallorca during their trip to the Balearics.
