Newcastle have been put on red alert after Ola Toivonen admitted he is finally ready to quit PSV Eindhoven.
The 27-year-old cast himself as an unpopular figure, despite having scored 60 goals for PSV, for his refusal to go for a fee but now admits he has come to an agreement to leave the Philips Stadion in January.
And Toivonen is even prepared to sign a new contract with PSV to help the club secure a reasonable transfer fee in January.
"It looks good, it expires in June," Toivonen told Fotbollskanalen.se.
"We have had a meeting with the club and I told them how I feel. It was an open and honest talk.
"I want to find a new club. But PSV also want that I sign and help the club.
"The dream would be to move in January, then PSV also get money."
The Magpies are known to be keen but also face competition from Norwich and Fulham for his signature.
