Newcastle United could make a summer swoop for Le Havre midfielder El-Hadji Ba after he expressed his interest in moving to England.

The Magpies aren't the only club to have checked on the French Under-20 international this season, with Sunderland, Wigan and Tottenham all confirmed admirers.

Ba only broke into Le Havre's first-team a year ago, but his potential is obvious with many watchers regarding him as one of the best prospects to come through the club's academy since Paul Pogba.

He too quit the Ligue 2 side for Manchester United before switching to Juventus last summer where he has since forced his way into the French national team.

Ba has watched with Pogba's progress with a keen interest and he would love to walk a similar path himself in the future.

The Magpies target said: "He is definitely the one for me to follow in his footsteps at the moment.

"Pogba is doing very well and I am happy for him to be playing for one of the top teams in the world in Juventus.

"I want to improve, and it is very good to hear that clubs have been scouting me.

"I would love to play in England one day. If teams have a good enough offer, then they (Le Havre) will let me go."
