Newcastle are set to battle it out with Crystal Palace for Ecuadorian winger Jefferson Montero, reports have claimed.
The 23-year-old currently plays his football in Mexico with Morelia after joining them from La Liga outfit Villarreal last summer, but there is strong interest from the Premier League and he could be on the move again.
Cardiff City had previously been linked with a £3million swoop but a deal failed to happen and reports now claim Palace and Newcastle will scrap it out for his signature.
Montero has played 27 times for Ecuador, scoring six goals in the process, and there is a good chance he could be heading to England before the transfer window closes.
Hull, Everton and Swansea have also been linked in the past so there is in no shortage of interest.
