Palace eying Toon ace

Crystal Palace are in the hunt for Newcastle defender Steven Taylor but the player's wage demands could scupper a move.

Taylor has been struggling for action at St James' Park this season and his agent recently stated he may have to leave his boyhood club to go in search of more game time.

Palace boss Tony Pulis is keen to add more quality to his defence as he looks to keep the Eagles in the Premier League and Taylor would fit the bill perfectly if a deal could be agreed.

Taylor made a rare appearance against Manchester City at the weekend and it remains to be seen if Toon boss Alan Pardew would sanction a move.

Even if he did give the move the nod, reports claim that wages would be a problem as Palace would struggle to match the £45,000 a week he picks up at the moment.
