Alan Pardew is hopeful that Papiss Cisse will shake off an illness in time to start Newcastle's home clash with Stoke on Sunday.
The Magpies' boss had fielded a starting line-up without a recognised forward in Thursday evening's 0-0 Europa League draw with Anzhi Makhachkala when the Senegal international was ruled out.
However, Pardew is looking for Cisse to be back in the fold when the Potters arrive at St James' Park for their Premier League clash this weekend.
Newcastle will also have full-back Mathieu Debuchy and striker Yoan Gouffran fresh and available after the pair were ineligible to play in Moscow.
Midfielder Jonas Gutierrez will also be fit after missing the European game on the Luzhniki Stadium's artificial pitch because of a knee problem, while Davide Santon, Cheick Tiote and Shola Ameobi were rested.
Skipper Fabricio Coloccini is out for up to seven weeks because of a back injury and keeper Tim Krul continues his recovery from an ankle injury.
