Newcastle are being linked with a swoop for Inter Milan striker Ishak Belfodil, who is considering leaving the San Siro next month.
The Algerian ace is struggling for regular action with Inter and has been told his lack of game time could severely hamper his chances of going to the World Cup in Brazil next summer.
With that in mind Belfodil is weighing up his options ahead of the January transfer window opening, with Newcastle on his list of possible destinations.
"The transfer window is approaching, so I will talk with the directors and see what's happening," he said. "I am happy at Inter, but Algeria coach Halilhodzic has made it clear that I have to play.
"That's why I'm considering my options. The transfer market could throw up a solution."
Alan Pardew has revealed he wants a new striker and no doubt Belfodil is one player on a long list of targets.
