Alan Pardew has warned his players to prepare for a hostile atmosphere as his Newcastle team get set for the Tyne-Wear derby.
The Toon head to the Stadium of Light looking to avenge the humiliating 3-0 defeat they suffered at the hands of their locals rivals towards the end of last season.
The Black Cats will be fired up for the clash as new manager Gus Poyet prepares for his first home game in charge of the Premier League's bottom club.
Pardew believes the Sunderland fans will get behind the Uruguayan in a big way and is expecting a far from relaxing Sunday afternoon on Wearside.
"It's Gus' first in charge so there will be an extra special atmosphere," Pardew told the Chronicle.
"And we need to be prepared for that.
"We have a good side and a good attacking side.
"We are good to watch when in full flow and we need to bring that to the surface."
