Crystal Palace's delay in appointing a new manager is down to the fact Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is their top target, reports claim.
Palace are still on the look out for Ian Holloway's successor but after being heavily linked with Tony Pulis, Chris Coleman and former Real Madrid coach Aitor Karanka, they are no nearer to making an appointment.
Pardew was first mentioned as a shock candidate for the job soon after Holloway left Selhurst Park but such suggestions were shot down by Newcastle officials.
However the reports have emerged again and it seems as though Palace are working on a deal to lure him away from St James' Park, where he is tied to a bumper contract.
Some bookmakers odds on Pardew returning to the club he once played for have tumbled, while co-chairman Stephen Browett's comments to the local press have added fuel to the fire.
"There is probably one we'd like the most but it's a bit complicated at the moment," he told the Advertiser.
