Alan Pardew says a victory over Maritimo will be enough to win the group after they fought back to draw 2-2 with Club Brugge.
The Magpies are now a point clear at the top of Group D and a victory at home to the Portuguese side next time out will see them go through to the Europa League round of 32.
It looked like being a bad night for the Magpies as they fell 2-0 down in the opening 19 minutes but they fought back well and goals by Vurnon Anita and Shola Ameobi just before half time earned them a point.
Pardew was delighted with the fight back and says they now have to go on and finish the job in the next game.
"We are going to have to kick ourselves if we don't beat Maritimo at home, with all due respect to them," he revealed. "We have got ourselves in a great position and are looking to just wrap the league up perhaps with that win there, which is our next game."
The Magpies will have to do without Cheick Tiote for that game as his disciplinary problems continued as he picked up his third yellow card last night, meaning he has to serve an automatic one-game ban.
