Hull boss Phil Brown has confirmed the Tigers will be making an effort to sign Newcastle striker Michael Owen within a week.
All the recent signs have suggested that Hull will fail to persuade Owen to join them at the KC Stadium when his current deal runs out at Newcastle next week, but that will not stop Brown from trying.
Owen was thought to be on £105,000 a week at St James' Park and whilst Hull can not match that, Brown will present him with a financial package next week and believes it will not all come down to money.
"We will be speaking to Michael's representatives within the week" Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.
"I would think he would have a number of offers and we'll have to be competitive.
"But I wouldn't sit down with him if I thought I was wasting my time. Anything is possible in football."
