Toon braced for late striker bid

Newcastle are bracing themselves for a bid from Fenerbahce for striker Papiss Cisse, reports have claimed.

The transfer window may have closed in England but it is still open in Turkey and Fenerbahce are still able to launch a move for the Senegal international striker.

Alan Pardew would of course be unable to replace him, and after failing to draft in another midfielder following the departure of Yohan Cabaye, the departure of Cisse would not go down well.

However Fenerbahce have until Monday afternoon to try and wrap up a deal and they could try their luck with an opening offer of £6million for the striker.

That is nowhere near enough as Newcastle would want at least £10million after rejecting offers of £8million from two unnamed clubs on transfer deadline day.
