Toon cool striker interest

Newcastle are reported to have cooled their interest in Heerenveen striker Alfred Finnbogason.

The Magpies have been linked with the Iceland international hit-man, who tops the Dutch goalscoring charts this term with 25 strikes from 27 appearances in all competitions.

Newcastle have sent scouts to watch the former Lokeren ace but, despite his prowess in front of goal, may now look elsewhere for summer recruits.

But the 25-year-old does still appear to have many suitors, with Everton and Celtic, plus German duo Werder Bremen and Hamburg reportedly keen on the man nicknamed 'The Iceman'.

Newcastle could well be in the market for a striker in the summer with Loic Remy unlikely to stay, but it appears as though Finnbogason is not the answer.
