Newcastle are ready to make a move for Benfica playmaker Filip Djuricic as Alan Pardew looks to finally replace Yohan Cabaye.
Doubts remain over whether Pardew will still be in charge of Newcastle next season as reports suggest axed Manchester United boss David Moyes could replace him, but that is not stopping the Toon boss from lining up new signings.
At least one new striker is high on Pardew's wanted list as Shola Ameobi, Loic Remy and Luuk De Jong head for the exit door, while Papiss Cisse is also facing a spell out injured.
However, Cabaye has yet to be replaced and Pardew is desperate to get some more creativity in midfield to fill the huge void created after the Frenchman joined Paris Saint-Germain.
Serbian ace Djuricic is said to be a top target and Newcastle will have to pay £7million if they are to lure him to St James' Park.
Remy Cabella also remains a target for Pardew but after Montpellier officials refused to do a deal in January, he may have to look elsewhere and 22-year-old Djuricic fits the bill.
