Newcastle could miss out on the signing of Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony as reports claim Swansea are favourites to land him.
The 24-year-old's prowess in front of goal has captured the attention of a number of English clubs and Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has been tracking him for some time with reports claiming a bid has gone in.
Big-spending Russian outfit Anzhi have also been eyeing the Ivory Coast international hitman, who has made it clear that he is ready to move overseas to further his career.
But reports in the Dutch press claim that the Swans have also made a "very serious" bid for the player, who has been rated at £10m after netting 46 league goals in 65 appearances for Vitas.
That makes the Welsh outfit favourites and Newcastle will have to move quickly if they are to have a chance of doing a deal.
