Newcastle will make a move for Wigan midfielder James McCarthy if they fight off the threat of relegation.
Newcastle and Wigan both face a fight to stay in the Premier League and what happens in the remaining few games is likely to determine the future of McCarthy.
Even if they stay up, Wigan will face a battle to keep hold of the talented 22-year-old as a host of clubs including Arsenal are known to be showing an interest.
Newcastle will have to stay in the top flight to have any chance of doing a deal and they will also have to pay a fee in the region of £15million, a figure that could be beyond Pardew.
However all moves are on hold until the end of the season when both clubs will know what division they will be playing their football in.
